Help! Feeling overwhelmed!?

So I just had my shower yesterday, and now I feel totally overwhelmed with the things I still need and didn’t get. I still need a monitor, diaper pail, first aid kit, bath set (I have NO baby wash or anything), desitin, more crib sheets, diaper bag, gas drops….and lots of basic essentials. There are also a few big ticket things I hope to find at yard sales this Sat in town, (like a swing and a high chair…)

I just feel so overwhelmed because although we got 2 gift cards everything seems to just be looming over me.

Any advice on how to save my sainty and money? I’ve cruised craigslist, and will continue to do so, but it’s all weighing on my mind pretty heavily.
Thanks everyone! It is all so overwhleming in the beginning and being a Virgo I like to be super organized and prepared. I just remembered my husbands parents were waiting until after the shower to buy us stuff (to buy what we did not get). I’m just a nut I guess LOL.

Things not to worry about:

*Diaper pail – stick your dirty diapers in a bag and take them outside/to the garbage shute, diaper pails are just over priced garbage cans.

* High chair – it’ll be months before you can use it, and booster seats are cheaper, take up less space, and work just as well if not better.

* Changing Table – they’re expensive and useless, if you’re anything like most of us mom’s you’ll never use it.

* Diaper bag – they can be convienient, but after a month or so I just started using a regular backpack, they hold more stuff and are easier to carry.

Small things to consider:

*Most baby washes can double as shampoo.
*Don’t buy a lot of outfits, buy mainly sleepers and onesies. It takes too much time and effort to dress your baby in an elaborate outfit, and you’re baby will outgrow it in a week anyway.
*If you are using disposable diapers, get a few cloth ones incase you runout in the middle of the night, and if you are using cloth diapers, get some disposable ones for when you go out (I wouldn’t want to carry around a dirty cloth diaper for hours).
*Buy necessities in bulk, it’s cheaper and more convienient.
*Recieving blanket make excellent changing pads, burp pads, emergency clean up pad, etc…

Find out if your town has a consignment store. I found lots of good, affordable stuff in them.

Just ask yourself before you buy anything “do I REALLY need this?”, you’ll be surprised how many ‘neccessary’ items you’ll never use.

Good luck and I hope I helped.
